Does Grow Light bulb Be A New Opportunity in Indoor Gardening?

Indoor gardening has evolved from a niche hobby into a rapidly growing global trend. The concept of plant aesthetics is booming. Look no further than Soltech’s sales data—more and more people are bringing plants into their rooms and homes.

Whether it’s tropical greenery or vibrant flowers, these plants do wonders for relieving the stress of modern life. Driven by social media trends, people are also eager to share their green spaces in online planting communities.

However, as indoor gardening grows, a key challenge arises for home growers:

How to keep the stunning patterns and unique characteristics of these indoor plants?

So we made a new series for indoor grower, that would provide better lighting with UV & IR for indoor plant.

Whether you are a decor contractor or a private label brand, this cost-effective product allows you to boost your profit margins with minimal investment. At the same time, it helps you drive customer loyalty and increase website engagement and review rates.

Why Grow Light Par is a Growing Market Opportunity

If you look at the data from top indoor lighting brands, you'll see consumers are already well-trained for this replaceable design. Their acceptance is only going to shoot up over time. A light bulb’s lifespan is always limited—and that means, your users will keep coming back to bring you continuous, long-term profit.

We now have two options for LED grow lights, SMD and COB LEDs. The question at hand is which is better? COB LEDs have higher light density, deeper penetration, and a greater spectrum for plants.

What is an SMD LED and How Does It Work?

SMD is short for Surface mounted diode which is a standalone chip on a ceramic base. They are manufactured by attaching the light-emitting diode chip to the surface of the printed circuit board (PCB) through surface mount technology (SMT).

A distinctive feature of SMD chips is the number of connection points and diodes. In SMD lamps, you can find more than three diodes and more than two contact points. It can be used for white LED lamps and LED strip lights. Now it’s very common in light industrial applications such as street light, floodlight, and linear light.

What is a COB LED and How Does It Work?

COB is short for chip on board. COB (Chip on Board) is an LED chip that is in direct contact with a substrate (such as silicon carbide, ceramic or metal substrate). The chips in a COB are often closely arranged together, and multiple diodes (usually 9 or more) are integrated into the printed circuit board of the COB.

These chips are often arranged in a characteristic series-parallel manner, with 2 circuit contact points on the outside. This kind of LED comes as a high-powered chip that is wired on a printed circuit board with optimal thermal management. It’s normally used in LED downlight, LED tracking lights.

The question at hand is which is better? COB LEDs have higher light density, deeper penetration, and a greater spectrum for plants. There are a few other benefits like light spread but the best benefit is the efficiency. COBs can provide you with more light per watt. That means you will not need as much energy to light up a space as you would need for SMDs to light up the same space.

The most obvious distinction lies in the light source structure: COB lights offer a concentrated, single-point light output, while SMD lights feature scattered, multi-point illumination.

The Disadvantages of COB LED Lights Currently Available on the Market

Professional growers understand that the color of the light does make a difference in the grow. For example, a lot of people prefer to use red or blue lights. Unfortunately, COBs currently only come in a few colors:blue to red.

Comparison of traditional COB spectra and solar spectra

In terms of the spectrum, traditional COB LEDs lack the far-red and ultraviolet wavelengths required for cultivation, yet ultraviolet light is essential for many plants.

Introducing Our New Grow Light

Addressing the issues present in commercially available COB indoor grow lights, we have implemented improvements by incorporating UV chips into the fixtures.

ICEVER's COB grow lights have added IR and UV components.

This broadens the spectrum, allowing the light spectrum of even a small plant grow bulb to more closely resemble the natural spectrum.

And we made some other design improvements:

It is a high-quality plug & play plant lamp with an adjustable light beam: turn the reflector and switch from a tight spot to a wider light cone in an instant.

The perfect solution when you want to focus the light on seedlings, herbs and chilies-or illuminate a larger surface without changing the lamp.

The lamp works in a standard E27-base lamp and consumes only 15-30 W .

Installation and use steps

  • 1. Screw the bulb into the E27 socket (pendant, stand or E27 suspension kit).

  • 2. Adjust the light beam: start with a narrow spot, expand as needed.

  • 3. Set the distance to the plants: start with 20-40 cm and adjust according to the reaction of the plants.

  • 4. Light cycles: seedlings 16-18 h, maintenance 12-14 h (timer makes life easier).

Tips for best results

  • Aim the light - use a narrow beam with high PPFD for cuttings/seedlings; widen the beam as the area increases.

  • Monitor the leaves – raise the lamp if the leaves are turning pale or curling; lower if growth is too slow.

  • Keep a rhythm – use a timer, a consistent photo-period produces consistent growth.
